Sequential gradient compression therapy has established itself as an effective, simple and safe method for the treatment and management of Lymphedema, chronic venous insufficiency and venous ulcers. The Lympha Press has been proven to work well in conjunction with Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD). This revolutionary vascular compression system is designed to compensate for impaired venous and lymphatic fluid flow. The unique overlapping of the air compartments delivers calibrated gradient pressures that simulate the body's natural fluid movement. The gentle compression of each cycle progressively moves extracellular fluid from the tissues, thus providing a distal to proximal "milking" action through external pressure on the limb. Once within the circulation of the limb, the fluid can be moved past the original area of disruption as venous blood or lymphatic fluid and is reabsorbed into the venous system and lymphatic vessels. This home compression therapy has been proven highly effective in preventing the need for long term, costly and recurrent hospitalizations and medical care due to cellulitis/lymphangitis infections and/or stasis ulcers.

The LYMPHA PRESS is a "sequential" pneumatic device that works using physiological principles. The pressure is distributed into overlapping air compartments which are contained in a special sleeve. The compartments are sequentially inflated, from distal to proximal, pressing the edema in a proximal direction. The overlapping compartments prevent any gaps between the functioning compartments, to achieve a maximal reduction of the edema.

The pump cycle starts by filling the distal compartment first and continues inflating the remaining compartments in sequence during the first 24 seconds until all are full. The pressure is held in all compartments for 2 seconds, then deflates for four seconds which completes the 30 seconds cycle. The cycle then repeats itself.

Various garment sizes are available. Each garment comes with either 3 zippers or 3 velcro straps for size adjustment.

After 17 years of use of the Lympha Press device, on thousands of patients all over the world, it has been proven to be safe and effective, even in the most fibrotic cases. Theories about damage to lymphatic vessels due to extensive pressure were proven wrong by repeated isotopic lymphographies, which showed improved lymphatic drainage after routine use of the Lympha Press.

Just like with any medical device, the Lympha Press has specific indications and contraindications. If you are overwhelmed with all the medical terminology, we have a glossary of terms for you.

Several research studies have been published on the Lympha Press. We have selected one of these for your review:

Treatment of post-mastectomy lymphedema of the upper limb by a combination of sequential pressotherapy and manual lymph drainage.

Regardless of diagnosis - early intervention and long-term maintenance using the Lympha Press is recognized by many of today's leading physicians as an effective treatment to be used towards bringing the patient's limb back as close as possible to its natural condition. The Lympha Press is an important aid to the physician before and after the surgical removal of scar tissue. It can reduce the hospitalization period and post-operative infection rate while minimizing pain.
